Nathalie and Michael met thirty years ago at Le Gavroche, where they learned their trade from the Roux brothers. Some years followed in France, running restaurants for Alain Ducasse and Franc Feregutte MOF.
Chez Moi is what came after: a small dining room on Aldwick Road, cooked and served by the two people whose names are above the door. In 2009 they were both awarded the MCA in restaurant service, the English equivalent of the MOF. Chez Moi translates as home, and that is roughly the idea.
Local and seasonal produce, classical technique, and no shortcuts in between.
Bread, pastries, parfaits and sorbets are made here. Scallops, crab and mussels arrive from the coast. Menus change with what is worth cooking that week.
The closest thing to being cooked for at home
Seven well-spaced tables, and no attempt to turn them twice. Up to eight guests can sit together; larger parties are welcome with a set menu agreed beforehand. Well-behaved dogs are always welcome, at lunch or at dinner.
Thirty years, two kitchens, one dining room
Le Gavroche came first: the Roux brothers, Silvano Giraldin, and a way of doing things that never really left. Then France: restaurants for Alain Ducasse, and the standards that go with them.
Back in England, Michael founded JMK Classic Catering in 1998, holding the catering contract at Loseley Park in Guildford until 2015. After eighteen years it was time for something smaller. Bognor Regis had been home for over twenty years; it seemed fair to ask whether it was ready for something a little different. It was.
Private dining at Chez Moi
Mondays, Tuesdays and Sunday evenings are kept for private dining: birthdays, anniversaries, wedding receptions and company dinners for six or more. Away from Aldwick Road, we cater events on the same terms. Charges may apply for exclusive use.
